How It Works... The Computer

Caught this on Boing Boing, really made my day. Someone took the time to scan a kids book from the early 70's on how computer works. Amazing to see just how far we have come!

Google Earth

Once again, Google has gone and impressed me. The purchase of Keyhole back in Oct. of 2004 and then the launch of Google Maps made sense, and I assumed that whatever Keyhole turned into, it would more or less remain the same cost/profit model. Now, Google has released the next version of the product, Google Earth. And, once again, Google given the average net user a wonderful tool, for free (how long they will be able to keep this up is something that I am very unsure of). The personal version is free, and there are other versions that you have to pay for, but from my casual research, it appears that the power to price ratio or ROI is pretty high!

The feature that really raised my eyebrows was the 3D buildings, in a word... "DAMN!" Check out the screenshot of downtown Chicago.

LEGO BrickJournal

Saw this over at Boing Boing, to cool. I haven't played with Legos much since I was like 14 or so, but with a baby on the way, and things like this, I can't wait to get back into them.

Stanley Kubrick's Chicago

Before Stanley Kubrick was a movie director, he was a photo journalist. The Chicago Tribune has a photo collection up on some of his work from a trip to the city for Look magazine Stanley Kubrick gives Chicago a Look. My favorite shot is the first one State Street.

What Video Game Character Am I?

I found this while researching SharePoint today... Allways nice to have a laugh in the middle of boring research.

What Video Game Character Are You? I am a Gauntlet Adventurer.I am a Gauntlet Adventurer.

I strive to improve my living conditions by hoarding gold, food, and sometimes keys and potions. I love adventure, fighting, and particularly winning - especially when there's a prize at stake. I occasionally get lost inside buildings and can't find the exit. I need food badly. What Video Game Character Are You?

Oops List

Normally I don't find humor in others misfortune, but The Oops List has some very interesting and humorous pictures.

Dude!

This one from the "Dude!" department. The site slayeroffice has some of the sweetest favelets that I have ever seen. My personal favorite is Color List, however all of the tools rock. A must for any web developer.
