3 IN A ROW!!

Even though the second half of the game was some of the hardest to watch football (what the hell was wrong with the refs!?!), the overtime victory was sweet indeed. My wife pointed out, early in the second half that the Bears almost always get an interception, and she was right to worry. The defense, getting almost no rest, really fell down in the second half. When the game went to overtime, my first thought was that we are better off not having the ball first. I knew that the 'D' would have to win the game and boy was that a hell of a way to do. 'Peanut' Tillman has been one of my favorites for a long time, and that interception, and in fact his whole game, are a great example of why.

4-3, all alone in 1st place. Gotta love it!

One of Many Reasons I'm Not a Republican

The following two headlines, nevermind the stories, are one of many reasons I'm not a republican.

Now you may think it's not fair of me to link the two to the Republicans, but, if you look at the membership of the house, who else would (should) I blame?

Bears Win

I never thought I would see the day when Brett Fave's Packers were 1-5. The Pack did their normal yesterday, with Brett coming from behind ready to send the game in to overtime. Then the Vikings did something I wouldn't expect them to be capable of, they drove down the field, and formal Bears kicker, Paul Edinger pulled off an impressive 56 yarder (a career best) with 2 seconds on the clock! After watching that game, and seeing that the Lions won against the Browns, I was very concerned about the Bears ability to maintain first place in the division.

The game was good, not great. But, it was nice to see the team win the way they promised at the beginning of the season they would. The offense got the required points, and the defense held the Ravens back, forcing them to punt on their last five positions, very nice. Thomas Jones, had another 100+ yard day, which was sweet indeed. More and more, I'm wondering if Benson was a complete mistake. Maybe that draft pick would have been better used on another position...

Even though I wasn't happy to see the Lions win, it does make Sundays game more exciting. And, if when the Bears win, they will be 4-3, not a bad place to be, considering the record of the rest of the league.

Oh yeah, and the Sox won both games this weekend - putting them in a great position to win their first World Series in 88 years. I'm not a baseball fan, and I grew up on the Northside, making me more likely to be a Cubs fan; but I have to admit, it was pretty exciting to watch the last couple of innings of the game on Saturday. So, yeah, I guess I have to say it: "Go Sox!"

Being Rachael Ray

I've had a crush on Rachael Ray for a long time. 30 Minute Meals is a standard in our house. I love her casual, sometimes goofy way of talking about food. The NY Times ran an article yesterday going in to detail about her past, her future, and how she got where she is today. It was great to read about how she got her start, pretty impressive really. Though I have to say, I'm a bit concerned about her having her own afternoon talk show... But, I'm sure I will watch it, at least once. And a monthly magazine? And her own personal EVOO? Sweet.

There is also a Slate article out there, from July, about why food snobs should stop hating her. It raises a point that a lot of people mention with Rachael, if her 30 minute meals can really be made in 30 minutes. The author of the Slate article couldn't do, and I'm not sure I could - but that isn't the point. The idea is quick and easy meals.

And finally, there is a interview with her at Popcrazy, I'm not sure when it was done, but it would see awhile ago as Rachael's show Inside Dish wasn't on the air yet.

Bears Win (again)

The Vikings were just sad on Sunday. I knew they were having problems this year, but damn! Ouch. Tthen again, even in years when the Bears are really bad, and the Vikings are supposed to be good, the trip south to Chicago doesn't go well for them. After all, it's been what, 6 years now since they have won at Soldier Field?

Now on to the Ravens, they have the same record we do, and the game is at Soldier Field, AND Vegas has Chicago to win, so with any luck, we will be 3-3 come Sunday evening. Detroit should lose to Cleveland, which would make us alone in first place! Of course being in first place and at .500 is pretty damn sad, but I will take it!

100 oldest dot com domains

I forget where I saw this, but it's pretty cool. It's interesting to see where major companies realized having a domain name was a good idea. Some of them, like HP and Northrop aren't very surprising, but the fact that Microsoft is on the list blew me away.

Parmesan standards to be lowered in U.S.

This just makes me sad. Kraft will no doubt be able to convince the FDA to change the rules (after all, everyone knows that the Bush administration is business first, people last). The standard for this cheese should be 12 months, it's bad enough that Kraft has gotten away with 10, but 6! YUCK.

I stay away from Kraft products as a general rule, this, just make my desire to avoid them stronger.
