This is no surprise for the people who follow Google-happenings. The latest free tool in the Google family is out in, beta, of course. Google Talk is a Jabber based IM client with voice communications built-in.
At this point, I use GAIM, and I can't see changing that; unless, Talk starts to support AIM, Yahoo! and MSN IM services, then, I would switch. The Talk interface is simple and clean, with no ads (yet...). Also since GMail is my primary email these days, I like the interact there.
